We see cybercriminals becoming more inventive. They carry out phishing attempts in which fraudsters impersonate, for example, Webador. Their goal is to gain access to your data or money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But don\u2019t worry: with a bit of healthy suspicion and a few simple habits, you can make your website much safer. In this blog, we give you practical tips you can start applying today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What\u2019s going on?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Scammers send emails that look very real, with logos and layouts resembling those of Webador. The contents of these messages are often misleading. They frequently ask for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Login credentials<\/strong>: They claim your account is blocked or request that you log in again to prevent that.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Invoice payments:<\/strong> You receive an urgent notice of an outstanding invoice or an expired domain. Typically, you\u2019re asked to pay immediately via an external link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Data verification: <\/strong>They ask you to \u201cverify\u201d your personal or business information via a form.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your defense: 4 simple habits<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Make the following steps a habit. They cost only a few extra seconds, but can save you a lot of trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Check the sender\u2019s address.<\/strong> The sender\u2019s name tells you nothing. Always click or tap the name to see the full email address. We always send emails from an address ending in \u201c@webador.com.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Inspect a link before clicking.<\/strong> Hover your mouse over the link. In the lower-left corner of your screen, you\u2019ll see the real web address. Does it look strange? Don\u2019t click. Links in our emails always point to an address that starts with <strong><a>www.webador.com<\/a><\/strong>, or <strong>help.webador.com<\/strong> \/ <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jouwweb.nl\">www.jouwweb.nl<\/a> <\/strong>or <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/help.jouwweb.nl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">help.jouwweb.nl<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Payments always go through the Dashboard.<\/strong> Your invoices and payment options are only available in your <a href=\"https:\/\/help.webador.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/29426742287377-Download-invoices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Webador dashboard<\/a>. We will never ask you via email to make a payment through an external link.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Phone calls.<\/strong> We will never ask you to call us about a security problem or payment issue.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What to do if you receive a fake email?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you get an email you don\u2019t trust, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>DO NOTHING.<\/strong> Don\u2019t click anything, don\u2019t download attachments, and don\u2019t reply.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Delete the email.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>When in doubt, log in manually<\/strong> to your <a href=\"https:\/\/help.webador.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/29426742287377-Download-invoices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Webador dashboard<\/a>. There you can see the current status of your account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Report the issue.<\/strong> Contact us via our <a href=\"https:\/\/help.webador.com\/hc\/en-us\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">help center<\/a> or via <a>support@webador.com<\/a> to report suspicious emails. We\u2019re happy to look into it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Extra tips to protect yourself and your online business:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Choose a strong password.<\/strong> Always use a unique password for your Webador account and change it regularly. <a href=\"https:\/\/help.webador.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/29426734150033-How-do-I-change-my-email-address-and-or-password\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">In this article<\/a>, you can read how to update your password.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Enable two-step verification (MFA).<\/strong> This adds an extra security layer. Even if someone guesses your password, they can\u2019t get in without the code from your phone. Use it for your Webador account, as well as for your social media and other important accounts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Keep your software updated.<\/strong> Keep the software on your computer, phone, and browser up to date.
